Wits Doctors. For good
Financial barriers remain one of the greatest threats to the training of future doctors in South Africa.
At the University of the Witwatersrand, the Wits Doctors. For Good campaign is helping ensure that talented medical students are able to complete their studies and enter the profession.
Recently featured on 947 FM, the student-led initiative highlights the stories of Wits medical students who are already serving communities across Gauteng through clinical training at hospitals such as Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital. While undertaking demanding medical training, many of these students face unexpected funding gaps that place their studies at risk.
Doctors for Good raises critical support to help bridge these gaps and ensure that capable, committed students are not forced to leave medical school because of financial hardship. By supporting these future doctors, donors contribute directly to strengthening South Africa’s healthcare system and sustaining the Wits tradition of producing medical professionals who serve where the need is greatest.
